About the event
Where are the start-up and investment opportunities in advanced materials and manufacturing?
Recent innovations as well as interest and incentives in advanced manufacturing make it an attractive area for start-ups and investors, though different from classic software and web platforms. There are key differences in the upfront effort, entry barriers, and business timelines.
Following on the discussions at the TiECON’23 track on advanced materials & manufacturing, this SIG meeting will offer an opportunity to dive into a discussion of both the pipeline of current academic and industry research as well as what VCs and other investors are seeking in the advanced manufacturing and related deep-tech space. Nilanjana Bhowmik and Vinit Nijhawan will share their experiences in this space … seeking start-up deals and teams, commercializing research projects, and scaling up businesses for exits.

About the speakers:
Nilanjana is a co-founder and General Partner at Converge, an early stage B2B VC, where her investment interests include the transformation of traditional industries through AI and automation.
Vinit is an investor, academic and entrepreneur. He is a member of the Massachusetts Advanced Manufacturing Committee.
