I have been in the finance, investment and venture capital industry for over 20 years. I am currently CEO & Founding Managing Director of K2 HealthVentures, a venture debt and equity fund focused on investing in private and public life sciences and healthcare companies. Prior to that I was CFO of eCare Vault, Inc. where I remain as Chairman. eCare Vault has developed a HIPAA and FERPA privacy-compliant cloud-based platform that allows a care team to effectively bridge the communication gap between health and education. For 10+ years (2004 to 2015) I was the Group Head of the Life Science practice at Hercules Capital, where we committed ~$2 billion in capital to ~100 companies over that time frame. Prior to joining Hercules in 2004, I co-founded BioGenesys Capital, which was focused on venture debt financing for biotechnology and medical device companies. Before co-founding BioGenesys Capital, I was a senior vice president and group head of Imperial Bank’s Life Sciences practice, which was acquired by Comerica Bank. I also served as an assistant vice president at BancBoston (acquired by Fleet) in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Boston, where I focused on mergers & acquisition finance for four years. I received an M.S. in Technology, Management and Policy and B.S. in Molecular Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During my tenure at MIT, I conducted research at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. I am also a Charter Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE).
